Emergencies
If you need emergency care you should go
to the emergency department or call 999 for an
ambulance.
An emergency is a critical or life-threatening
situation. This can include:
- unconsciousness
- a suspected stroke
- heavy blood loss
- a deep wound such as a stab wound
- a suspected heart attack
- difficulty in breathing
- severe burns.
Emergency departments are open 24 hours a day, seven days a
week.
